Monty Miller is the CEO and owner of M-Tex Oil, a prominent figure in the Texas oil industry and one of the main characters in the show. In the first season finale, Monty dies after suffering a heart attack and his wife, Cami Miller (Demi Moore), takes over ownership with Tommy Norris (Billy Bo Thornton) as President.

Script wise - Duvall is in development for WILL NOT PLAY, about the rise of free agency in MLB. Written with his uncle who was on the world famous Oakland A's team in the 70s when Charlie O. Finley owned it. It seems particularly relevant now as we witness 700M+ deals dwarfing the sport.
After reclaiming the right to TRIBES OF OCTOBER, a high concept action/thriller set in Venice Beach on Halloween Night, Duvall now has a rewrite in the works. Also, A BUSINESSMAN'S GUIDE TO RUSSIA, a science crime thriller which when written was full of insight into the specious dealings of an international pharmaceutical company. But now, in our atmosphere of corporate mistrust, is more cultural commentary. yet still thrilling!
Recently Duvall has begun work on CAFFEINE REPUBLIC a small but vital indie set in Costa Rica about corporate overreach vs. local autonomy, truth and science vs. misinformation, redemption through action and global mindfulness.
He has sold three spec scripts in his short career as a writer and has just started reformatting one of the scripts that he directed as a feature for publication as a novel. THE BIG BAD CITY.
On the production side, DANCES WITH FILMS, a festival that he has been working with since 2005 (which he entered the short film GUARD DOGS), is starting year 28 at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood! DWF - Year 27 Schedule
“I understand that this is a risk-averse industry, I get it,” Jefferson said during his Oscar acceptance speech onstage. “But $200 million movies are also a risk. And it doesn’t always work out, but you take the risk anyway. Instead of making one $200 million movie, try making 20 $10 million movies. Or 50 $4 million movies. Why don’t we try that and see what happens?”
